Message to Metal Workers from AWL Industrial Committee

Comrades of Workers' Liberty in the UK send our full solidarity to striking Turkish metal workers, particularly in light of the government repression of their strike. The right to withdraw our labour is what fundamentally distinguishes the worker from the slave, and must be defended at all costs. In Britain, the ruling Tory Party is preparing an attempt to further restrict trade unions right, and make effective strike action essentially illegal. We are therefore part of a shared, global struggle to assert fundamental working-class rights against employers and governments who seek to undermine them. Solidarity in your ongoing struggle.
