UID-DER’s May Day Message of Solidarity to Workers and Working Class Organizations Around the World

Dear class brothers/sisters,

We are sending this message to you to greet your May Day in the run-up to May Day demonstrations across the world. We believe this year’s May Day is all the more important for the working class of the world. After 2 consecutive years of bans on May Day celebrations imposed by bourgeois governments, the working class should pose a powerful stance against capitalism. The bourgeoisie used Covid-19 as a pretext to suppress the working class movement.

During this period, problems faced by the working class everywhere have grown immensely. After 2 years of pandemic the working  class of the world is more unemployed, poorer, more precarious, more deprived of public health services, more suppressed, less free, more immigrant, more war-afflicted, more stressed and unhappy… As the international day of unity, struggle, and solidarity of the working class, this is a timely chance to make a robust stand against this rotten capitalist order and its representatives.

May Day is a unique celebration among many others enjoyed by societies across the world in that it has the most uniting potential. There is no other celebration so far-reaching and embracing. Even religious festivals with billions of believers are not so, as they are exclusive only to those specific believers. The world working class makes up a huge majority of humanity crossing all boundaries, gender, national, religious, sectarian, skin color, language etc.
