Dearest friends in Turkey,

We are all so heartbroken to hear of the devastating news coming out of the region. Words cannot describe or deeply console the pain and loss you are feeling, but we hope that knowing your pain is shared lifts some of the weight off your shoulders and hearts. The people of our region, our neighbours and friends in Turkey, Syria, Iran... are familiar with the senseless loss of human life, but it has never become easier to bear the weight of the events, as it should not. The complete disregard for our safety, our very being by our governments and responsible authorities is not something we can or will pass by easily. It should not be so easy for buildings to crumble in this day and age. With our level of technology rescue efforts should be so much more efficient.

Please remain hopeful and continue to ask for accountability of the organizations that are in place for your benefit and we will amplify your voice. The same way your neighbours have relied on your solidarity, we hope you know you can rely on us. Your lives are valuable and we hear your voices. Know that our thoughts are with you and we will continue our efforts, however small, to be your aids and friends in these trying times.
