Solidarity Message from the Workers at Hacettepe University to the Workers at University of London
Our dear class brothers and sisters,
We are sending our greetings to you from Hacettepe University, Turkey. We are workers who had been dismissed because of our struggle against injustices created by outsourced work and who were eventually reinstated thanks to our resistance.
We have learned from UID-DER website that you are also working under bad conditions because of outsourced work. But you do not kneel down before these conditions. When we read that you have made achievements in your struggle, it gave us hope and stregth. We face similar problems as you, such as low wages, unequal working conditions and insecurity. And we fight these injustices as well. We also made an important achievement through our struggle. Through our unofficial strike after our dismissal we, 50 workers, succeeded in getting us reinstated as regular workers of the university.
All over the world bosses seek to find ways of deeper and deeper exploitation and impose insecure conditions of work on workers. They want us work like slaves with lower wages, less workers for the same job, and without social and aconomic rights.
We know that workers all over the world have same problems no matter what our languages, colours, cultures are. We have to be in solidarity in our struggles against the attacks of bosses as they are united accross the world against workers to better exploit them.
With these thoughts and feelings we wish you a successful struggle.
Long live international unity of struggle of workers!
Long live class solidarity!
