UID-DER’s Solidarity Message to Trade Unions and Working Class of Iran
Dear Iranian class brothers&sisters,
We are writing to you from Turkey. As Association of International Workers Solidarity (UID-DER) we salute you with warmest feelings. For decades, Israel has continued its oppression of the Palestinian people, and today it is attacking Iran as part of the United States’ so-called Greater Middle East Project. Meanwhile, the brutal and fascistic mullah regime, which has turned the lives of Iranian workers and labourers into a living hell, remains focused solely on its own interests and survival amidst this ring of fire. Regardless of nationality, we feel profound anger towards the ruling powers who inflict such suffering on the peoples of the Middle East and on Iranian workers and labourers. We stand in solidarity with the Iranian working class in their demands for peace and freedom.
From Iraq to Afghanistan, Syria to Yemen, Libya to Palestine, we live in a region that has for years been ravaged by imperialist wars. In such a context, we recognise the vital importance of strengthening the struggle for workers’ unity and the brotherhood of peoples. For this reason, wherever we are – in trade unions across various sectors, in factories, neighbourhoods, and schools – we are committed to organising resistance against capitalist exploitation and imperialist warfare. In Turkey, the regime is intensifying repression, seeking to silence all dissent. While it postures against Israel, it simultaneously maintains commercial and military cooperation. It condemns the attacks on Iran in words, yet hopes to benefit from the weakening of Iran, which it sees as a regional rival. It dismisses the Kurdish people's legitimate democratic demands and drives workers and labourers into deep poverty, suppressing the right to strike and protest by every possible means.
For this reason, we regard workers and labourers of all nations as our class siblings in the face of the ruling classes in Turkey and across the world. We salute your struggle against your own oppressors and imperialist war, we support your demands, and we look forward to building the international struggle of the working class against capitalist exploitation and imperialist aggression – together.
Peace and freedom in the Middle East and world will be possible through international unity and solidarity of the working class.
